Blaspheme you say. Who has a Acura racing poster inside their Porsche workshop? This guy. It was a “gift” from a friend who would have just as easily thrown it in the trash instead of my free-handout, out-stretched arms. The key is timing. Make sure to be at the right place at the right time and you can get all sorts of stuff that nobody wants.
Take these 16×8″ forged alloy 928 wheels for example. They came along with another car I purchased. The guy wanted to get rid of everything. And now they are cluttering up my skillfully designed walkways between buckets and shelves of other Porsche parts nobody seems to want. Parts hoarding is a fine line between:
– Maybe I’ll need it one day
– Maybe somebody else will need it one day
– Could be worth something, I should hang onto it
– Damn this place is full of crap, time to heave the ho
I intend to powder coat the wheels or possibly polish them out for the ’87 928 S4. The problem with polish is that someone already painted 1/2 of the wheels. I’m not sure I want to go through the trouble of trying to strip them before rounds of polishing compounds. Powder coating is a two step process. Drop them off and pick them up. Just need to choose a color to go with Guards Red.
