1992 Porsche Carrera RS Club Sport (M003 Competition)

UPDATE:  The owner Steve wrote me today.  He has dropped the price $10K.  You can still find the car through the eBay link below or Steve’s eBay id is euro-rs.

May 21, 2012:  I guess the problem is this car was imported on a race exemption, so you can’t title it for the street.  It has a German title.  I’m not one of those guys who goes to the track much, so not having the option of driving it daily in the summertime would pretty much suck.  The good news is in roughly four years it will be 25 years old and may be titled under the classic exemption, although I’m not entirely sure given that it was imported originally as a race car.

Still fun to consider this rare car if you have $99,500 for the Buy it Now out of Texas.

“Rare 1992 Carrera RS Clubsport (M003) Competition version — also known as a Club Sport.  Of the 2,282 Carrera RS cars produced in 1992, only 290 were M003 versions, and only 3 were known to be painted in Ferrari Yellow and this is one of those three cars (see picture of the original “FerrariGelb” paint code decal under the hood.)

NOTE: Do not pay attention to the “1980” year noted in the auction listing fields as this car has a European VIN# and eBay would not recognize it.  This is a real 1992 (only production year for 964 RS Club Sport).

OWNERSHIP HISTORY
I purchased the car in 2002 from a doctor in Cologne, Germany where it had been driven on the street and “track days”, and imported it to the USA under a DOT Race Exemption (not street legal in the USA).  Prior to that, the car had 2 other German owners (I am owner #4 per the German Title).

NOTE: THIS CAR DOES NOT HAVE A U.S. TITLE (it has a German Title) AS IT HAS NEVER BEEN TITLED FOR STREET USE AND CANNOT BE TITLED FOR US STREET USE SINCE IMPORTED ON A RACE EXEMPTION.

The car remains original (Matter cage, Recaro/Porsche race seats, numbers matching G50/10 gearbox, original M64/03 engine, mechanical systems, dual center lock/wheel stud wheel hubs, RS steering wheel, etc.) The tub has its correct/original production stamp in the rear deck (below the rear window). The car even retains its original glass!

DOCUMENTATION
Original books are included in the original black Porsche soft binder:
* Main key code card
* Owner’s Manual (Betriebsanleitung)
* Porsche Touring Pass book (Fahrzeug-Identitatskarte) with original owner name, dated April 10, 1992
* Porsche Assistance booklet
* Porsche Service center guidebook
* Porsche Warranty book (Garantie & Wartung)

Also included:
* TUV registration papers from the 1990’s
* Fahrzeugbrief (German Title)

The car also comes complete US import paperwork and US racing logbooks (PCA and SVRA logbooks).

MAINTENANCE
The car has been expertly maintained by a top Porsche shop whose customers race at Monterey and Goodwood. In 2007, the engine broke a valve spring retainer so we used this opportunity to inspect all internal parts and refresh worn items with OEM Porsche M64/003 parts ($17,000 USD). All original removed parts are in a box and come with the car. There was no damage to the engine and current dyno sheet data shows the engine is delivering 260hp at the rear wheels — very strong! In 2011, the car received new brake rotors (OEM Porsche Motorsports), rebuilt Moton shocks & suspension ($3,000), and a rebuilt gearbox ($7,000 USD). The engine has less than 20 hours while the gearbox, suspension and brakes have only 3 hours.

The following changes have been made to the car for racing:

* Fuel Safe race cell (100 litre) installed in 2008; original fuel tank comes with the car
* Porsche race steering wheel; original RS steering wheel comes with the car
* Fabspeed stainless headers; original exhaust/mufflers and left rear plastic bumper cover come with the car
* Moton shocks (dampers); original dampers had been replaced when I bought the car

CONDITION
I have only raced this car 1 weekend for each of the last 3 years as to keep the car in top running condition. This car is fresh and ready to race or enjoy for track days. No accidents in the 10 years the car has been in the USA.  The car does NOT come with the Speedline wheels pictured (they are sold) — but will come with the original 17″ wheels shown in yellow.

The paint does have small stone chips to the front bumper, edge of hood and side mirrors from a decade of PCA track events. I have included close-up pictures of the front of the car to show the chips.  I have 30-40 pictures of the car for those who want to email me directly (spatti@polarityinc.com)

Bid with confidence as I’ve been on eBay 12 years with 100% Positive Feedback, 16-year PCA member, 25-year amateur car collector, and have sold multiple collector cars internationally (Ferrari, OSCA, DeTomaso, Porsche, etc.)  International bidders, I will provide transportation of the car to the port of Houston, Texas for shipment.

    Hey Paul – thanks for writing about my car 🙂 I’ve just lowered the price by $10K to help someone get into the car at a great price. My wife wants a Panamera, so I might even take one on trade.

    My pleasure Steve. Thanks for letting us know about the price drop. I’ve updated to post to today’s date. Good luck with the sale and the Panamera.
