“Vintage sports race car, one of a kind “Wachs Porsche special”, available for sale for the first time in 40 years. Constructed in 1957 by Lee Wachs utilizing Porsche 356 mechanicals, engine, brakes, wheels, steering, instruments and an aluminum Austin Healy 100S rear body section. The remaining body was custom fabricated from aluminum by hand. This car was campaigned successfully by Wachs in the late 50s and 60s in SO-CAL and SCCA events. In the Early 70s it was acquired by one of its current owners, Howarth Gilmore of NJ, from Fred Apgar noted Porsche mechanic of NJ. The engine and brakes were rebuilt and the car was campaigned successfully for several years in North east VSCCA events including a FTD at the Mt. Equinox hill climb in 1981. The car was refreshed again in 99 by co-owner Bill Haupt of NY with paint in its original silver color and mechanically gone through. The car has been co driven successfully in VSCCA events since then. The car is currently well maintained and with its light weight construction, short ratio 3rd and 4th gearing, Skirmant’s engine mechanicals is still fun and competitive. Health issues necessitate the reluctant sale of this unique and historic car. Asking $129,000”

I would love to own something unique like this.   A piece of Porsche history.

On The Samba in Harriman, New York.
