It’s movie week at Motor Car Market. I spend most of my evenings in front of the TV with my computer on my lap. Last night I caught the beginning of Grosse Point Blank and couldn’t refuse it. When you are from Detroit, you are like part of movies and shows made in Detroit. It’s an unspoken connection that I really can’t explain. Take Hung for example, the new HBO show. Ah, no kidding am I connected to that one.
Of course the cars are what’s really important. Remember what the successful real estate broker drives, the guy from Entourage? A BMW 735i. There’s a Saab 900 convertible which happens to be one of my favorite cars. We had one at Automobile Magazine back in ’89. A 900 Turbo to be exact. I loved it. Out of everything on the car board, I kept going back to that one. I’d buy one but I can’t afford to fix it. How do I know in advance? It’s Swedish. They make their own tools for the parts you can’t replace without them. It might as well be a Lamborghini Countach LP400. Lamborghini engineers apparently didn’t plan for anyone else to repair their cars and would literally have tools crafted uniquely for hard to reach splines and sprockets and what nots.
Martin Blank calls everyone out for not driving American. He and Dan Aykroyd, another character in the film that is in competition with Martin, tool around in Lincoln Town Cars. An interesting car choice for a professional killer. You’d think he’d want something a little faster. Maybe something that could actually handle a curve when you are running away from someone you KILLED. Product placement at its best in D-Town.

Thats cause the roads are so bad there they need something to absorb the potholes. Look like roads in Baghdad.

Good point. Why waste a good car on the roads in Michigan? Beat the A-plan car that everyone and their mother can get from Ford (or GM or whatever) for everyday and take the savings for a mid-life crisis.

Exactamundo. Also, no reason to ever buy nice wheels in Michigan cause they will be bent within a year. I think that Prelude I had ended up having pretty messed up rims from what I can remember.
