My friend Don and I have been discussing the appeal of the older square box Monteros and Troopers. I cast a wide net out to the Denver Craigslist to find this one. I’ve loved this two door style since the days of the Dodge Raider, which is the same thing I get that. When you are in Detroit things like the Eagle Talon, Dodge Raider and Conquest TSi become fan favorites versus their Japanese counter parts, the Montero, GSX and Starion. I’ve found a few other Monteros that have equally high mileage which must mean they hold up well. In a short box like this one I’d prefer a manual shift but having driven an automatic ’95 Montero SR for seven years now, I get how people might like the auto.
“Rare 1988 Mitsubishi Montero 2 door 4X4. This is the 2.6 liter 4 cylinder model with automatic transmission. It has 232K mile on odometer, unknown if rebuilt. Good clean condition and drives great for its age.
Many recent upgrades and maintenance is up to date. I have all the receipts.

New cap, rotor, and spark plugs
New front suspension bushing and components
Interior has been sprayed with sound and heat dampening material.

Sorry, but this is an older post. It is probably long gone but best in your search. Love the Monteros!
