Thank you to reader Roy who forwarded this 912 to me. It’s actually a quite attractive build. On first blush it reminded me of the prototype 2010 Singer 911 pictured below. Both have big fenders, big wheels and a classic look despite being updated. I like the fact that this owner kept the original mirrors, deck lid and horn grilles. The chrome plays nice with the silver paint.
However, redeeming qualities on this 912 diminish with VW engine. Yes, it’s a dual port but it’s still only a 1600. The square driving lights blocking what looks like it might be the remote oil cooler are: “I’m sixteen and want to add accessories to my ride.” Finally, it’s a short wheelbase car. Most mods you see going to this extreme play out better on a long wheelbase.
But overall, I’d drive it proud after yanking the driving lights. On Craigslist Poconos.
